Teltonika have announced today that the Teltonika RUT950 will be produced with a new terminal power connection.
RUT950 UK mains Power Adapter supplied with all new units from Jan 2017
Teltonika claim the benefits of the new style power connector for the RUT950 4G Router will be
1) Socket plug with fixation
2) Ready for RCM certification
3) One socket for industrial and home usage
4) Reserved pins for ignition (future option)
Teltonika also announced that they will be replacing the existing Huawei 4G Modem and replace it with a new CAT4 Telit 4G Modem.
The new Telit Module has the following features
- LTE (DL/UK) – 150 / 50 Mbps
- LTE Bands – B1 (2100Mhz) / B3 (1800Mhz) / B7 (2600Mhz) / B8 (900Mhz) / B20 (800Mhz)
- HSPA (HSDPA) – 21 Mbps
- HSPA (HSUPA) 5.76 Mbps
- UMTS – 384 Mbps
- GSM / GPRS / EDGE – Dual band Europe (900 / 1800 Mhz)
- UMTS / HSDPA / HSUPA – B1 / B8 (2100 / 900 Mhz)

Compared to the old Huawei Module

- HSPA (HSDPA) – 21 Mbps
- HSPA (HSUPA) 5.76 Mbps

- UMTS / HSDPA / HSUPA – B1 / B2 / B5 / B8

So for 4G connectivity the main benefit is the move to a CAT4 module to hopefully provide better download speeds – of course your maximum download and upload speeds for the RUT950 4G Router will depend upon distance to 4G base Station and the number of simultaneous users and the mobile networks bandwidth and service restrictions.
Once Teltonika start production of the revised RUT950 4G Router then the old barrel style connector will no longer be available. replacement power supplies will need to be specially ordered and are expected to be more expensive than the normal mains power supplies.
If you have the new version of the Teltonika RUT950 and are having 3G/4G connection issues then please ensure you are using the latest firmware and have correctly configured the mobile settings page – click here for details
